Fan Control Module Inspection

  1. Remove the two bolts from the fan control module with the connectors still connected.
  2. Start and warm up the engine.
  3. Monitor the engine coolant temperature with the WDS or equivalent.
  4. Measure the voltage at the terminal B of cooling fan control module connector (2 terminals) from the harness side as shown in the table.

    ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE

    Inspection Result
    Condition A/C Engine coolant temp.
    IG SW ON OFF Below 95°C {203°F} Fan stops
    IG SW ON (Idling) OFF Below 95°C {203°F} Fan stops
    IG SW ON (Idling) ON (1) Below 95°C {203°F} 6.9V-12.1V
    IG SW ON (Idling) OFF Above 100°C {212°F} 0-6V-14.6V
    (1) When the magnetic clutch and the middle pressure SW are on.
    • If not as specified, replace the fan control module.
