DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles, the ignition key cannot be pulled out of the ignition switch after shifting the selector lever into P-range. This occurs from someone applying excessive force to the selector lever. The guide plate moves out of position causing poor contact in the P-range switch.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Verify customer concern.
- Replace the Change Control (gear selector lever) according to the Workshop Manual (section 05-18 P POSITION SWITCH (BUILT-IN SELECTOR LEVER) INSPECTION).
- Verify repair.
