Front Buckle Removal/Installation

WARNING:

Handling the front buckle (pre-tensioner front buckle) improperly can accidentally deploy the pretensioner, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the front buckle. (See SPECIAL CARE DURING MECHANICAL REPAIRS .) (See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .)

Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.
Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Detach the tab as shown in the figure and remove the connector from the seat connector.

Remove in the order indicated.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and then goes out when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
- If the air bag system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system.
