Pinpoint Test 2 No Communication With The 4X4 Control Module

  1. CHECK POWER TO 4X4 CONTROL MODULE 
    • Key OFF.
    • Disconnect the 4X4 control module connectors H-281a and H-281b.
    • Key ON, engine OFF (KOEO).
    • Measure the voltage between 4X4 control module H-281a pin 1, circuit (0), harness side and ground.
    • Measure the voltage between 4X4 control module H-281a pin 2, circuit (DG/LG), harness side and ground.
    • Are both voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes : Go to step 2.
    2. No : Repair the power supply circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
  2. CHECK 4X4 CONTROL MODULE GROUND CIRCUITS 
    • Key OFF.
    • Measure the resistance between 4X4 control module H-281a pin 7, circuit (B), harness side and ground.
    • Measure the resistance between 4X4 control module H-281 b pin 2, circuit (B/W), harness side and ground.
    • Are both resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes : Replace the 4X4 control module. See TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
    2. No : Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
