Tailgate Latch Removal/Installation

Lower and support the tailgate.
Remove the tailgate access cover.
Open the tailgate lock rod retainer.
Disconnect the tailgate lock rod (1) from the tailgate lock remote control (2).

Disconnect the tailgate support cables from the tailgate strikers.
Remove the tailgate lock.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the tailgate lock and lock rod.

NOTE:
- Prior to installation, remove the slack in the tailgate lock release link by pulling the tailgate lock release link to the center of the tailgate. Close the tailgate lock rod retainer over the thread of the tailgate lock release link.
Install in reverse order of removal.
1. Tightening torque
  1. Tailgate access cover screws
  2. 4.5 - 6.3 N.m (46 - 64 kgf.cm, 40 - 56 in.lbf)
  3. Tailgate lock bolts
  4. 25.5 - 34.5 N.m (2.7 - 3.6 kgf-m, 19-25 ft-lbf)
