WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Tribute, 2001 Mazda B4000, 2001 Mazda B3000, 2001 Mazda B2500, and 2001 Mazda B2300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect generator connector A-168. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage drop between generator connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/White wire) and battery positive (+) terminal. If measured voltage drop is less than .5 volts, go to next step. If voltage drop is .5 volts or more, repair high resistance in Yellow/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system for normal operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check ground connections between voltage regulator and generator (2.5 & 3.0L engines only) and generator and engine. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair ground connections as necessary then retest system for normal operation. If all connections are tight and clean, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
