Module Does Not Respond To The Diagnostic Tool - Restraint Control Module (RCM)

PINPOINT TEST 2 - MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM)

PINPOINT TEST 2 MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL - RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM)
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE RCM 0810-101 FOR DAMAGE
Yes Go to step 2.
No Repair the RCM 0810-101. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
2 CHECK CIRCUIT LB/W BETWEEN THE DLC D-01 AND THE RCM 0810-101 FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between the RCM 0810-101 pin 5, circuit LB/W, harness side and the DLC D-01 pin 7, circuit LB/W, harness side.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Repair the circuit. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
3 CHECK FOR CORRECT RCM OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the RCM connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all the RCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Install a new RCM. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST .
