DTC P0117 [AJ] DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P0117 ECT circuit low input
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • The PCM monitors the ECT sensor signal at PCM terminal 2AQ. If the PCM detects ECT sensor voltage of 0.18 V or below  , the PCM determines that the ECT sensor circuit has a malfunction.

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (Engine cooling system).
  • MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • ECT sensor malfunction
  • Connector or terminal malfunction
  • Short to ground circuit between ECT sensor terminal A and PCM terminal 2AQ
  • Short each harness ECT sensor terminal A and B
  • PCM malfunction
