Engine Rpm/Vehicle Speed Limiter

DTC P1270 DETECTION CONDITION & POSSIBLE CAUSES

DTC P1270 ENGINE RPM/VEHICLE SPEED LIMITER
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • P1270 indicates the vehicle has been operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle to exceed a calibration limit.
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • Wheel slippage (water, ice, mud and snow)
  • Excessive engine rpm in neutral
  • Vehicle drive at a high rate of speed
DTC P1270 DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

DTC P1270 ENGINE RPM/VEHICLE SPEED LIMITER
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK VEHICLE OPERATION
  • Check for:
    • Water, ice, mud and snow causing wheel slippage
    • Excessive engine rpm in N (Neutral)
    • Driven at high rate of speed
  • Was the vehicle operating in any of the above conditions? 
Yes Vehicle OK. Clear DTC and return vehicle to customer with information about P1270.
No Clear DTCs and See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - ENGINE DRIVEABILITY to address any driveability concerns.
