Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE BASIC INSPECTION CHART

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	Turn ignition switch to ON. Does O/D OFF indicator light (illuminate/go out) corresponding to O/D OFF switch (on/off)?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Perform symptom troubleshooting No. 26 "O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN O/D OFF SWITCH IS TURNED ON ", or No. 27 "O/D OFF INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN O/D OFF SWITCH IS NOT TURNED ON ".
2	Turn ignition switch to ON. When selector lever is moved, are selector lever position and indicator aligned? Also, when other ranges are selected from N or P during idling, does vehicle creep within 1 - 2 seconds?	NO	Go to the next step.
2		No	Inspect selector lever. (See SELECTOR LEVER INSPECTION .) Repair or replace defective areas.
3	Inspect ATF color and condition. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) CONDITION INSPECTION .) Are ATF color and odor normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection result. Flush ATX and cooler line as necessary.
4	Perform line pressure test. (See LINE PRESSURE TEST .) Is line pressure okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Adjust accelerator cable as necessary. Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection result.
5	Perform stall test. (See STALL SPEED TEST .) Is stall speed okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection result.
6	Inspect voltage at the following TCM terminals. (See TCM INSPECTION .) Terminal 1B, 1F (TFT sensor) Terminal 2C (2 range switch) Terminal 1AA (3 range switch) Terminal 1Z (D range switch) Terminal 1W (R position switch) Terminal 2B (P position switch) Terminal 1T (N position switch) Terminal 1M, 1V(VSS) Terminal IK, IX (Intermediate sensor) Terminal 1P (Battery power supply) Is voltage okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection result.
7	Inspect value at the following PCM PIDs using WDS or equivalent. (See PCM INSPECTION [AJ] .) B+ ECT RPM TP VSS Are PID values okay?	Yes	Perform symptom troubleshooting and follow procedures.
7		No	Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection result.
