Possible Causes

A SINGLE MIRROR DOES NOT FUNCTION WITH SWITCH LOGIC - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 3 A SINGLE MIRROR DOES NOT FUNCTION WITH SWITCH LOGIC
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK MIRROR MOVEMENT (LEFT/RIGHT)
  • Operate the LH and RH exterior rear view mirrors in the LEFT and RIGHT direction.
  • Do the exterior rear view mirrors move left and right? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 3.
2 CHECK MIRROR MOVEMENT (UP/DOWN)
  • Operate the LH and RH exterior rear view mirrors in the UP and DOWN direction.
  • Do the exterior rear view mirrors move up and down? 
Yes System is OK.
No Go to step 5.
3 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE MIRROR
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative rear view mirror.
  • Measure the voltage between inoperative exterior rear view mirror 0912-303 pin 1 (RH), circuit (L/G), or 0912-302 pin 1 (LH), circuit (Y/V), and ground while operating the exterior rear view mirror control switch.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Check the suspect exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the suspect exterior mirror motor for open or shorted circuits, and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the jumper harness is not OK, install a new exterior mirror. See EXTERIOR MIRROR . Otherwise, install a new exterior mirror motor. See EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR . Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to next step.
4 CHECK THE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL
  • Disconnect: Exterior rear view mirror switch
  • Carry out the exterior rear view mirror control switch component test. See table at the and of this pinpoint test.
  • Is the exterior rear view mirror switch OK? 
Yes Repair circuit (Y/V) and/or circuit (L/G). Test the system for normal operation.
No Install a new exterior rear view mirror switch. See EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH . Test the system for normal operation.
5 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE MIRROR
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative exterior rear view mirror.
  • Measure the voltage between inoperative exterior rear view mirror 0912-302 pin 2, circuit (GY/O), or 0912-303 pin 2, circuit (V/O), and ground while operating the exterior rear view mirror control switch.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Check the suspect exterior mirror jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the suspect exterior mirror motor for open or shorted circuits, and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the jumper harness is not OK, install a new exterior mirror. See EXTERIOR MIRROR . Otherwise, install a new exterior mirror motor. See EXTERIOR MIRROR MOTOR . Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to next step.
6 CHECK THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR CONTROL
  • Disconnect: Exterior rear view mirror switch 0912-301.
  • Carry out the exterior rear view mirror switch component test. .
  • Is the exterior rear view mirror control switch OK? 
Yes Repair circuit (GY/O) and/or (V/O). Test the system for normal operation.
No Install a new exterior rear view mirror control switch. See EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH Test the system for normal operation.
