DTC P1260

Immobilizer system problem

DETECTION CONDITION

Vehicle with advanced keyless and start system:

The keyless control module detects an immobilizer system malfunction.
Vehicle with keyless entry system:
The instrument cluster detects an immobilizer system malfunction.

Diagnostic support note

This is a continuous monitor (other).
The MIL does not illuminate.
FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2/Mode 12) is not available.
The DTC is not stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Immobilizer system malfunction
PCM malfunction

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability. Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY STORED DTC FOR IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM Verify stored DTCs. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC - IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM - (IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM) ). Are any DTCs stored?	Yes	Go to the appropriate DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE (IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM) [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] ).
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P1260 COMPLETED Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE ). Perform the KOEO self test. (See KOEO/KOER SELF TEST ). Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE Perform the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE ". (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE ). Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE ).
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
