DTC P011A: 00 ECT Sensor No. 1/No. 2 Performance Problem: Notes

DTC P011A:00 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

DTC P011A:00  ECT sensor No. 1/No. 2 performance problem 
DETECTION CONDITION 
  • When the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. 20.0 °C {36.0 °F}  higher than the ECT sensor No. 1, or the ECT sensor No. 2 detected temperature is approx. -47.6 °C {-85.7 °F}  less than the ECT sensor No. 1 with the ignition switched ON* , the PCM detects a circuit/range performance problem.

* : Ignition switch is ON when 6 h or more have passed since the ignition was switched off.
  • Difference in output value between ECT sensor No. 1 and No. 2 is -25 °C {-45 °F}  or more

    MONITORING CONDITIONS 

    • Engine speed: 1, 400 RPM  or more
    • Engine coolant flow after engine is started: 5 L {5 US qt, 4 Imp qt}  or more

Diagnostic support note 
  • This is a continuous monitor (engine cooling system).
  • The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
  • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
  • FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/Snapshot data is available.
  • DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION  Not applicable
POSSIBLE CAUSE 
  • ECT sensor No. 1 connector or terminals malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 2 connector or terminals malfunction
  • PCM connector or terminals malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 1 malfunction
  • ECT sensor No. 2 malfunction
  • PCM malfunction
