Not Reusing Windshield

  1. Clean and degrease an approx. 50 mm {2.0 in}  wide strip along the perimeter of the windshield.
  2. Inspect the glass for cracks. If it is cracked, chamfer it using sandpaper.
  3. Install the windshield molding.

  4. Apply primer to the area of the glass shown in the figure.
    • Follow the primer product instructions for the drying time.
    CAUTION:
    • To prevent weakening of the primer adhesion, keep the bonding surface free of dirt, moisture, and grease. Do not touch the surface with your hand.
    NOTE:
    • Apply primer to the hollowed marks in the ceramic coating.

  5. Cut away the old sealant using a utility knife so that 1-2 mm {0.04-0.07 in}  thickness of sealant remains along the perimeter of the frame.

  6. Clean and degrease along the perimeter of the bonding area on the body.
  7. Apply primer to the area of the body shown in the figure.
    • Follow the primer product instructions for the drying time.
    CAUTION:
    • Using the dowel for applying primer, apply primer to the area shown in the figure.

  8. Apply sealant to the area of the glass surface as shown in the figure.

  9. Insert the positioning pins to the body and install the windshield.
  10. Verify that the clearance between the A-pillar and the roof is within the range shown in the figure, and press along the perimeter of the glass.

  11. Install the following parts:
    1. Rearview mirror (without auto-dimming mirror) (Refer to REARVIEW MIRROR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Auto-dimming mirror (with auto-dimming mirror) (Refer to AUTO-DIMMING MIRROR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Laser sensor (with smart city brake support (SCBS) (Refer to LASER SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Rain sensor (with auto light/wiper system) (Refer to RAIN SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Forward sensing camera (FSC) clip (with high beam control (HBC) system) (Refer to FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) CLIP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Forward sensing camera (FSC) (with high beam control (HBC) system) (Refer to FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Forward sensing camera (FSC) short-cord (with high beam control (HBC) system) (Refer to FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) SHORT-CORD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Cover (Refer to FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Assist handle (Refer to ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Front map light (dual light type) (Refer to FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Sunvisor (Refer to SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. A-pillar trim (Refer to A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Front fender molding (Refer to FRONT FENDER MOLDING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    14. Cowl grille (Refer to COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    15. Windshield wiper arm and blade (Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
  13. Allow the sealant to harden completely. Reference for sealant hardening time: 24 h
    NOTE:
    • Follow the product instructions for the sealant hardening time.
  14. If the forward sensing camera (FSC) is replaced, perform forward sensing camera (FSC) aiming. (Refer to FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) AIMING .)
  15. If the rain sensor is replaced, perform the sensitivity setting procedure for the auto lights. (Refer to RAIN SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
