Steering Shift Switch Inspection
WARNING:
- Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. - Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) - Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.
- Remove the screw.
- Disconnect the steering shift switch connector.
- Release the tab shown in the figure and remove the steering shift switch.
- Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.
- Measure the continuity between steering shift switch wiring harness connector terminals A-B and terminals D-E.

- If there is any malfunction, replace the steering shift switch. (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
