Passenger-Side Air Bag Module Removal/Installation [Standard Deployment Control System]

WARNING:

Handling the passenger-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Switch the ignition off.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more . (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the glove compartment. (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the cap.

Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.

Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connector.
Remove the screws.

Remove the nuts.

Remove the brackets.
Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and detach guide B from the dashboard while spreading the dashboard in the direction of arrow (1).

Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (3) and detach guides A from the dashboard.

Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (4), and remove the passenger-side air bag module.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
- If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
