Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	PERFORM MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS USING FLOWCHART Is the malfunction diagnosis performed using the flowchart? (Refer to FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Re-perform the malfunction diagnosis using the flowchart. (Refer to FOREWORD [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .)
2	INSPECT SAS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTORS CONNECTION CONDITION WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag modules and pre-tensioner seat belts, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions and the workshop Article before handling the air bag system components. (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Remove the rear console. (Refer to REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Are all SAS control module connectors securely connected?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Reconnect the SAS control module connector properly, then go to Step 4.
3	VERIFY PARTIALLY DISCONNETCTED DETECTION BAR OF SAS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR Remove the column cover. (Refer to COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Disconnect the clock spring connector. (Refer to CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Remove the glove compartment. (Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connector. (Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Disconnect the driver and passenger-side front seat connectors. (Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Remove the B-pillar lower trim. (Refer to B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Disconnect the driver and passenger-side pre-tensioner seat belt connectors. (Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Remove the headliner. (Refer to HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Disconnect the driver and passenger-side curtain air bag module connectors. (Refer to CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) Verify the condition of the detector bars of the SAS control module connectors. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins) Are the detector bars of the SAS control module connectors normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the air bag harness.
4	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION FOR SAS CONTROL MODULE Connect the SAS control module connectors. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Connect the negative battery cable. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on). Clear the DTC for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (Refer to CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (Refer to DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the SAS control module. (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
