Light Switch Removal/Installation

NOTE:
  • When removing the light switch, it is necessary to turn the steering wheel. If the ignition is switched off with the driver's door closed, the steering wheel is locked. Perform Steps  13 to prevent the steering wheel from being locked.
  1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  2. Open the driver's door.
  3. Switch the ignition off.
  4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  5. Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Rotate the steering wheel until the service hole is visible in the position shown in the figure.

  7. While pressing the light switch tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, pull out the light switch in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure, and detach the light switch tab from the start stop unit.

  8. Remove the light switch.
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
