Occupancy Sensor Inspection

WARNING:

Handling a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the workshop service information before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). NOTE:

If cargo is put on the sensor detection area of the occupancy sensor, the sensor may respond.

Switch the ignition off.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the passenger-side front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Disconnect the occupancy sensor connector.

Verify that the continuity between the occupancy sensor terminals is as indicated in the table.

- If not as indicated in the table, replace the passenger-side front seat cushion pad. (See FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
