A/C Unit Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:
CAUTION:
  • When leaving the A/C unit, store it in the correct position shown in the figure. If the A/C unit is left in an incorrect position, the cooler pipe, heater pipe, or urethane could be deformed or damaged.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY .) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING .)
  3. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [VIN M] .) (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [VIN Y] .)
  4. Remove the following parts:
    1. Plug hole plate (VIN M, VIN Y) (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN M] .) (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [VIN Y] .)
    2. Windshield wiper arm and blade (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Cowl grille (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

  5. Remove the bolt.

    CAUTION:
    • If moisture or foreign matter enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunctions could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.
  6. Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe.
  7. Disconnect the heater hose.

  8. Disconnect the drain hose.

  9. Remove the bolt. (with PTC heater)

  10. Disconnect the earth. (with PTC heater)
  11. Remove the earth from the hook. (with PTC heater)
  12. Disconnect the PTC heater connectors. (with PTC heater)

  13. Remove the nuts.

  14. Remove the A/C unit. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
  15. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See A/C Unit Installation Note .) (See Drain Hose Installation Note .)
  16. Inspect for engine coolant leakage. (See ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [VIN M] .) (See ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION [VIN Y] .)
  17. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST .)
