Tie-Rod End Replacement: Notes

D-code 

WARNING:
  • After replacement, confirm that the points shown in the figure are parallel with the vehicle on the ground (same for the right side).

  • Cracks may occur in the boot of the outer ball joint. Install the outer ball joint in the correct position.
  • If the mounting position is not suitable, rotate the outer ball joint and adjust it to the proper position.
NOTE:
  • After installation, the wheel alignment shall be checked and adjusted if necessary.
  1. Remove the wheel and tire. (front) (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Remove the snap pin. (See STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  3. Remove using the procedure shown in the figure.
    • The figure shows the left side (same as right side).

    TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

    1 Nut Continuous - 74.5 N.m {7.6 kgf.m, 55 ft.bf}
    2 Tie-rod end
    (See TIE-ROD END REMOVAL NOTE )
    (See TIE-ROD INSTALLATION NOTE )

    3 Nut Continuous - 83.5 N.m {8.5 kgf.m, 61.45 ft.lbf}
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  5. Perform the wheel alignment pre-inspection. (See WHEEL ALIGNMENT PRE-INSPECTION .)
  6. Perform the front wheel alignment. (See FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT .)
