SERVICE INFORMATION

When retrieving failure code from the CIS-E control unit, it is possible for malfunction code 16 to be stored, even if there is no problem traceable to this malfunction code.

If test step 21.0 to 22.0, according to G-test w/ codes article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section do not confirm any malfunction in the respective emission control system and/or components, the malfunction code 16 should be erased.

NOTE: Only model year 1990 vehicles with CIS-E control units up to Bosch production code 950 (arrow, Figure 1) are affected.
