SERVICE INFORMATION

Vehicles produced between January and April 1992 within the chassis number range shown below may be equipped with a faulty ACC pushbutton unit. The problem is within the charcoal filter control circuit which causes excessive current draw (over 150 mA) after the ignition has been shut off.

The faulty units are manufactured by Kammerer and can be identified by accessing the ACC pushbutton unit on-board diagnostics sensor values readout mode. To enter this mode, turn the ignition switch on, press AUTO, make sure that both temperature wheels are set-in the white zone and then hold the REST button for 5-10 seconds. Press the AUTO button until test step 9 is displayed in the left LCD window. The manufacturer code is displayed in the right side LCD window.

Faulty Kammerer units are identified by code 06.

Good Kammerer units which do NOT need to be replaced are identified by codes 04, 05, 07, etc.

Bosch units which do NOT need to be replaced are identified by codes 58, 59, or 60.

In case of a complaint of battery discharge which is caused by excessive current draw, replace the Kammerer unit with the Bosch unit shown below, and recharge battery.
