SERVICE INFORMATION

As of the Effective Serial Numbers below, modified A/C pushbutton control modules with software version code "65" are installed.

In case of customer complaints of excessive current draw with the ignition OFF in models prior to above-mentioned production phase-in, a modified control module should be installed to resolve this complaint.

Excessive current draw may be attributed to engagement of the activated charcoal filter (if so equipped). Affected are vehicles equipped with Kammerer control modules having the Part No. 140 830 06 85 with software version code "06".
Excessive current draw may also be caused by inadvertent activation of the "REST" feature. Affected are vehicles equipped with Bosch control modules having the part numbers 140 830 07 85/08 85/14 85/15 85 with software version codes "60" to "62" (see NOTE: below).

NOTE: To obtain the software version, turn the ignition ON, A/C pushbutton control module in "AUTO". Press "REST" for 10 seconds to enter actual value test mode. Press "AUTO" until step no. 9 is indicated in left display.

In addition, complaints of fogging and condensation on the outside of the windshield can be resolved through the installation of the modified control module, Part Number 140 830 20 85.

In vehicles equipped with rear A/C up to chassis end no. A 074422, the modified control module, Part No. 140 830 20 85, is not capable of communication with the rear A/C pushbutton control module, Part No. 140 830 05 85. In these models, the rear A/C pushbutton control module must also be replaced with the version having Part No. 140 830 11 85.
