Task

Preheating combustion chamber in order to achieve the necessary ignition temperature for fuel-air mixture.

Combustion chamber preheating is subdivided into:

Safety shut-off

The safety shut-off cuts off power to the glow plugs if no start occurs within 20-25 seconds after start readiness is indicated.

Fault indication

A fault in the preglow system is indicated by the failure of the preglow indicator lamp (A1e16) to illuminate when the key is turned to position "2".
