To prevent the vehicle from being operated with an IR remote control key which has been stolen or lost, it is necessary to inhibit the remote control with the hand-held tester (HHT). In such cases the remote control and transponder will no longer function.

The IR remote control function as well as transponder function are inhibited together.

There are two possibilities for inhibiting:

Revocably, this means that the inhibited remote control key can be re-enabled with the hand-held tester (HHT).
Irrevocably, this means that the inhibited remote control key can never be reactivated.

The number (1 through 8) of the remote control key to be inhibited must be determined. For this purpose the following information can be read out of the DAS infrared control module (N54/1) with the hand-held tester (HHT):

Which remote control key is inhibited
Which remote control keys are operative (initialized)
Which number has the current remote control key
