Functions in the case of ignition ON:

Supply the fuel injection and ignition system ME via the base module (N16/1), relay module (K40) or the fuse and relay module (K40/4, K40/7 or F1) with voltage.
Actuating fuel pump for about 1 s (partially audible) as a full-running protection.
An engine start must be completed, however, before repeated actuation of the fuel pump.
Indicator lamps in the instrument cluster must light up (bulb check).
At ignition ON data are transferred via the CAN databus (e.g. for drive authorization or Keyless Go)
The throttle valve actuator checks each time its return spring after ignition ON and carries out a positioner adaptation in certain conditions.

If the fuel pump does not run, first of all check the fuses at the base module (N16/1), relay module (K40) or at the fuse and relay module for the voltage supply of the ME control unit. Then check the fuse of the fuel pump.

Model 170: In addition check crash relay (K56), if the indicator lamps in the instrument cluster do not light up when ignition is ON.
