  Electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module, location The EIS is located in the instrument panel next to the steering column. GF80.57-P-0003-01A 
  Electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module, purpose
  • Interface between interior CAN bus and engine compartment CAN bus
  • Circuit 50 to engine control module via CAN bus
  • Circuit 15 released via discrete line
  • Reading in cruise control switch (S40) without variable speed limitation and (S40/4) with variable speed limitation.
  • Check drive authorization
  • Infrared communication with remote control key when inserted
  • Power supply for remote control key operation
  • Actuation of electric steering column control module (N26/5) 
  • Transmission of CAN messages, circuit 15, 15R
  • Reading in combination switch (S4)  and FAN switch (S4/2) 
 
  Electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module, design The EIS housing has an opening into which the remote control key can be inserted. The opening contains an infrared transmitter and receiver module for data exchange with the remote control key.
