DEALER TECHNICAL BULLETIN 24/98

SERVICE INFORMATION

24/98-1 RECALLS AND SERVICE CAMPAIGNS: WHEN REPAIRING ANY VEHICLE, ALWAYS CHECK THE VEHICLE MASTER INQUIRY FOR OPEN CAMPAIGNS

24/98-2 GROUP 83 - MODEL 208, ACC VERSION CODING UPDATE: For cases where the ACC set temperature will reset by itself to 72°F, please follow the procedure stated below to change the version coding.

A) CHECKING THE VERSION CODING

  1. Turn ignition switch to position 2 and turn AC System ON.
  2. Press the "REST" button until the actual values are displayed using the left side "AUTO" button advance to step 42.
  3. Read and record the value (P1) on the right side of the display.
  4. Press the "AUTO" button again for step 43. Read and record the value (P2) on the right side of the display.
  5. Press "REST" to exit the actual values display mode.

B) VERSION CODING THE ACC PUSHBUTTON MODULE

  1. Turn the ignition switch to position 2 and turn the ACC ON.
  2. Using the left side temperature arrow, set the temperature to "HI".
  3. Using the right Side temperature arrow, set the temperature to "LO".
  4. Turn the ignition switch to "O" and remove key.
  5. Wait 20 seconds.
  6. Insert ignition key. Press and hold the "REST" button while turning the ignition switch to position 2. "P1" (blinking) will be displayed on the left side and the corresponding value on the right side. Press the left side UP/DOWN temperature setting arrow to change the value.
  7. Press the "EC" button to store the new value (P1 will stop blinking).
  8. Press "EC" again.
  9. "P2" (blinking) will be displayed on the left side and the corresponding value on the right side. Press the left side UP/DOWN temperature setting arrow to change the value.
  10. Press the "EC" button to store the new value (P2 will stop blinking}.
  11. Turn the ignition switch to "O" and remove key.
  12. Wait 20 seconds.
  13. Turn the ignition switch to position 2 and the ACC ON.
  14. Reset both sides to 72°F.
  15. Verify the version coding in the actual values diagnostic mode as described above.

C) VERSION CODING VALUES

  1. ACC Pushbutton Module Part Number: 140 830 25 85
    1. CLK320 P1 = 232 and P2 = 8
    2. CLK430 P1 = 200 and P2 = 8
    3. CLK320 Cabrio P1 = 248 and P2 = 8
  2. ACC Pushbutton Module Part Number: 140 830 26 85 (to become available beginning November)
    1. CLK320 P1 = 232 and P2 = 14
    2. CLK430 P1 = 200 and P2 = 14
    3. CLK320 Cabrio P1 = 248 and P2 = 14

  1. Damage Code: 83 405 52
  2. Operation Code: 83 104 0, .3 hours
  3. Operation Code: 83 152 0, .4 hours
  4. Operation Code: 83 0000, version code, .2 hours
  5. Model Indicator: H0.
