| IFI [ERE] injected quantity control function | Zero delivery (A) Fuel returns via the vertical groove at every stroke. Partial delivery (B) Control edge opens return line after partial stoke. Maximum delivery (C) Effective stroke corresponds to highest possible delivery quantity. Fuel delivery ends when the control edge meets the feed and control bore. The rotation of the control plunger by the control rod allows for variable port closing. Advanced end of delivery = low injection quantity Retarded end of delivery = high injection quantity When the vertical groove of the pump plunger and the feed and control bore are in line, pressure can no longer be built up and fuel delivery ceases. This condition is present when the engine is turned off or during engine braking (zero delivery). |
