Test 25: CAN "L" Data Line Short To Ground

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mercedes-Benz E320 and 1996 Mercedes-Benz E300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Using Adapter Cable (202 589 15 63 00), connect Breakout Box (124 589 00 21 00) to remote control locking control module. See Figure. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect RCL control module from breakout box, leaving RCL control module harness connector attached to breakout box. Disconnect Engine Control Module (ECM) harness connector. Disconnect Drive Authorization System (DAS) control module (if equipped). Measure resistance between ter1minals No. 1 and 13 at breakout box. If 20,000 ohms or greater exists, CAN "L" data line is not shorted to ground at this time. If less than 20,000 ohms exists, repair short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
