SERVICE INFORMATION

Following are All Activity Module (AAM) version coding instructions for model 163 vehicles. The AAM has various settings that have not been designated for usage and should never be set or activated. Such AAM settings are not allocated to any applications or functions. For correct AAM version coding, please follow the below prescribed procedure.

HAND-HELD TESTER (HHT) PATH FOR AAM VERSION CODING

  1. From the Main Function Groups menu, select: Body & Accessories
  2. Select: AAM
  3. Select: Control module adaptations
  4. Select: Version coding
  5. Select: Readout/change code
  6. Apply as described below:
    1. Engine Set the correct engine version.
NOTE: Sets the standard value for A/C compressor on/off cycling time delay. When the time delay is changed in the correction program, "Manual Value" appears in the place of Engine Version. Standard value should be applied, provided no change to the A/C compressor time delay setting is necessary.
    2. Country version Set the correct country, but only when daytime running lamps are required. Standard value is "Rest of World."
NOTE: Activates daytime running lamps as necessary. Relays K5, K9, K13 and K22 must be present in Relay Module F1 for daytime running lamps to operate.
    3. Left-/Right-hand steering vehicle Set left-hand steering or right-hand steering.
NOTE: Specifies the driver's door for central locking (CL) functions.
    4. Transmission No function designation. Standard value is "Manual."
    5. Country setting for fog lamps/rear fog lamp Set the correct country if fog lamps are present.
NOTE: Sets the correct function of the fog lamp switch. The switch LED illuminates when the rear fog lamp is in use. Rest of World and Canada versions have a fog lamp indicator located in the instrument cluster. USA versions with fog lamps do not have a fog lamp indicator. Standard value is "Rest of World."
    6. Fog lamp as auxiliary driving lamp Only for USA versions if auxiliary driving lamp is present. Standard value is "Off."
    7. Air conditioning Set to "present" if A/C is present.
    8. Heated seats Set to "present" if heated seats are present.
    9. Trip computer Set only to "not present."
NOTE: Trip computer function will hereby not be affected. It does, however, prevent a false CAN signal from being sent to the AAM.
    10. Convenience feature Set USA versions to "only w/ circuit 15c." Set other countries to "Possible with door open."
NOTE: Enables operation of the seat adjustment, window and sunroof control as specified above. A jumper cable, available for USA versions, allows operation of the electric seat adjustment while the necessary "only w/ circuit 15c" operation of the window and sunroof is retained.
    11. ATA Set to "present."
NOTE: A visual confirmation by way of the hazard warning signal system appears when locking and unlocking with the remote entry transmitter key. Rest of World vehicles are identified as having ATA installed by an alarm horn and hood switch on the engine compartment rear bulk.
    12. ATA interior/anti-tow protection Set to "present."
NOTE: The trip computer is equipped with a glass breakage microphone.
    13. ATA self-arming Set to "OFF."
    14. CL confirmation Set to "OFF," only when ATA is not present.
NOTE: Activated only by locking with the remote entry transmitter key and visually confirmed by way of the hazard warning signal system. Unlocking is not visually confirmed.
    15. Auto. CL locking after 1 minute Always set to "ON."
NOTE: Locks doors again, if after one minute of unlocking the vehicle with the remote entry transmitter key, no doors are opened.
    16. Auto. CL locking when driving Always set to "OFF." Not valid for any version.
    17. CL automatic opening Always set to "OFF." Not valid for any version.
    18. Panic alarm
    19. Set to "ON" only for USA/Canada versions.
NOTE: Panic button is located on the remote entry transmitter key.
    20. Hazard flasher after crash Always set to "ON."
    21. CL switch Set to "Single-stage" or "Dual-stage," depending on type of central locking switch.
NOTE: Single-stage has only one position. Dual-stage has separate positions for locking and unlocking.
