Test 16: Control Line Activation Short To Ground
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mercedes-Benz C280 and 1996 Mercedes-Benz C220. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Using Adapter Cable (202 589 15 63 00), connect Breakout Box (124 589 00 21 00) to remote control locking control module. See Figure. Disconnect RCL control module from breakout box, leaving RCL control module harness connector attached to breakout box. Disconnect pneumatic system equipment control module harness connectors. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 4 at breakout box. If 20,000 ohms or greater exists, no shorts exist in this circuit at this time. If less than 20,000 ohms exists, repair short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
NOTE:
A break in test numbering occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted Test 21 through Test 27 checks for opens or shorts in CAN data lines. Ensure that all control modules which are connected to these CAN data lines are disconnected before proceeding with these tests. If any of these control modules are left connected, improper resistance values may be obtained.
