Section 29 (Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes): Introduction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Mercedes-Benz E300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
If no faults were found while performing preliminary inspection, proceed with self-diagnostics. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present after entering self-diagnostics, proceed to TESTS W/O CODES - DIESEL article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).
NOTE:
Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless specifically stated otherwise in testing procedures.
