StarTAC PORTABLE TELEPHONE PROGRAMMING
SERVICE INFORMATION
Following are programming instructions for TDMA and CDMA StarTAC portable telephones.
Questions concerning telephone selection in accordance with client cellular carrier choice and/or telephone programming should be addressed with the Mercedes-Benz/Motorola StarTAC Technical Hotline.
TDMA PROGRAMMING
- Obtain the following information from the cellular carrier before beginning the programming sequence:
- Cellular telephone number: _ _ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _
- Carrier system ID: _ _ _ _ _ (ID number will be 1 to 5 digits)
- Telephone security code: _ _ _ _ _ _ (Default is all zeros)
NOTE: The security code must be obtained from the client if the client has changed it. - Program as follows:TDMA PROGRAMMING
Step To Press (Input) Phone Displays 1 Enter NAM1 Programming Mode #, carrier system ID, #, *, SEND Nam 1 Prog * = Yes, # = No 2 2 --- * Security code _ _ _ _ _ _ 3 Enter security code 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 (Default) Electronic serial number (ESN) 4 --- SEND Telephone number _ _ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ 5 Enter telephone number Enter client cellular telephone number Telephone number being entered 6 --- SEND NAM program begins NOTE: The telephone will display Try Again if an entry error is made. Press CLR to erase the message/incorrect digits or press and hold CLR to clear all digits. Then enter the correct number and press SEND. - The telephone will turn off after the NAM Program Begins message displays. Upon being turned back on, the telephone will search for the network and be ready for use.
CDMA PROGRAMMING
- Obtain the following information from the cellular carrier before beginning the programming sequence:
- Cellular telephone number: _ _ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _
- Carrier analog system ID: _ _ _ _ _ (ID number will be 1 to 5 digits)
- Carrier digital system ID: _ _ _ _ _ (ID number will be 1 to 5 digits)
NOTE: Generally, the analog and digital system ID numbers will be the same. Questions regarding system ID numbers should be addressed with the cellular carrier. - Program as follows:CDMA PROGRAMMING
Step To Press (Input) Telephone Displays 1 Enter NAM1 Programming Mode 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #, 1, FCN, FCN (74663 = PHONE) Enter MIN 2 Enter cellular telephone number Enter client cellular telephone number Number being entered 3 --- STO AMPS system ID 4 Enter analog system ID Enter carrier analog system ID Number being entered 5 --- STO CDMA system ID --- Enter digital system ID Enter carrier CDMA system ID Number being entered 6 --- STO Entry done NOTE: The telephone will display Try Again if an entry error is made. Press CLR to erase the message/incorrect digits or press and hold CLR to clear all digits. Then enter the correct number and press STO. - After the Entry Done message appears, the telephone will display Searching as it attempts to contact a network. When the Searching message disappears, the telephone is ready for use.
- To program additional telephone numbers, up to two maximum, follow step 1 in the table below and steps 2~6 in the above table.PROGRAMING ADDITIONAL TELEPHONE NUMBERS
Step To Press (Input) Phone Displays 1 Enter NAM2-4 Programming Mode 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #, n, FCN, FCN n = 2, 3, or 4 (corresponding to the different telephone number entered) Enter MIN NOTE: Be sure to obtain the system ID for each before beginning the programming sequence if the second through fourth numbers are with different cellular carriers.NOTE: The CDMA telephone has a two telephone number maximum. Refer to the operation guide for instructions on how to switch between the various telephone numbers.
