SERVICE INFORMATION
13/00-2 GROUP 07 - ENGINE M112 AND M113, STARTING INTERRUPTED BEFORE ENGINE CAN START-UP: In models with engine M112 and M113, the following procedure is recommended for complaints of engine not starting and RPM counter jumping briefly towards > 2000 when engine starting process is abandoned. No fault codes stored in ME control module.
- Remove starter motor.
- Apply a thin coating of grease (part no. 000 989 76 51) to the starter motor ring gear. Use only the grease specified and be sure not to apply too much grease which could adversely affect the signal pick-up of the L5 position sensor.
- Reinstall starter motor.
