TEST CD FOR CD-ROM AND GPS MODULE EXAMINATION ON COMAND WITH D NAVIGATION

SERVICE INFORMATION

MBUSA is pleased to announce the release of a software CD, which can be used to test COMAND head units, as installed in the above mentioned models.

NOTE: The CD can only be used to test COMAND head units in Model 220 as of approx. 12/1999.

Advantages/benefits:

COMAND CD shall be used as an additional test device to the well know DAS.
COMAND CD is used as independent test tool in the case of customer complaints, error codes etc.
COMAND CD can examine the CD-ROM drive as well as the integrated GPS module.
COMAND CD test results are displayed in COMAND.

Three Different Test Results:

OK - test procedure completed, CD-ROM drive and GPS module are fully functional; COMAND head unit must not be replaced.
NOT OK - test procedure completed, CD-ROM drive or GPS module NOT fully functional, COMAND head unit to be replaced.
ERROR - test procedure aborted, no result available, test procedure has to be performed again.

TEST PROCEDURE

NOTE: Please read the entire test procedure before performing the test itself.

After the DAS system has been used to diagnose the faults, and after the following message has appeared: "Please use COMAND Test CD", please continue with Step 1 below:

Remove the customer inserted navigation CD.
Insert the COMAND Test CD.
Confirm with "OK" (Test program will now run the test automatically).
Result will be displayed in COMAND (see "Three Different Test Results:" above).

NOTE: In the case of negative results: repeat test using another COMAND CD, in order to ensure the used COMAND CD is itself not faulty. The COMAND Test CD is subject to normal wear, which is caused by its normal use, (scratches on CD surface, finger prints and/or other damage to the COMAND Test CD.
