Temperature Control

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL500 and 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Temperature push buttons provide interior temperature control in temperature range of 62-90°F. If temperature is set at minimum, peak cooling performance is attained. If temperature is set at maximum, system will operate at full heating capacity.

A basic setting of 72°F is recommended. To avoid undesirable temperature fluctuations, readjustment of temperature setting should be made in small increments.

To prevent climate control system from overloading when driving with the convertible top down, temperature of airflow from outlets is regulated based on temperature setting and outside air temperature sensor. In-vehicle temperature sensor input is fixed at about 72°F (22°C). Difference between temperature setting and outside air temperature must be greater than 86°F (30°C) before system will operate at maximum heating or cooling.
