COMAND Unit Software Update at PDI

SERVICE INFORMATION

When performing the PDI in the above model vehicle VIN ranges, the following additional steps have to be performed.

Prior to updating COMAND software, please check current software status. If the head unit software is 32/03 or later, no further action is necessary as this is the latest software release. To update the head unit software, follow the below procedure.

Power up the COMAND head unit.
Select "Radio" mode.
Press and hold 1, 3 and 8 on the COMAND keypad.
Insert the Service Update CD (number S-2786-211-SV03 to be received by dealers in the week of 11/24/03) into the CD drive of the head unit.
NOTE: The update process will take approximately 5 minutes.
After the update process is complete, the head unit will power itself off. Wait until the head unit powers itself up again.
Eject the CD.

NOTE: After a successful update, the head unit will try to read the update disk and will display "CD error". This does not mean that the CD drive is faulty.
