FLASHING OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (FLASHWARE)

SERVICE INFORMATION

Electronic control module (ECM) flashing is the process by which the latest, new-version software is written into a "blank" electronic control module or written over its existing (old-version) software using Star Diagnosis System (please refer to the procedure below for ECM flashing instructions). ECM flashing first became available with the launch of model 230 and the introduction of the system diagnosis control module. Model 211 was the next model equipped with flashware-capable control modules. For model 211, two control modules are flashing capable: the audio gateway (AGW) and the central gateway (CGW) control modules. Currently, the flashware is bundled with the Star Diagnosis DAS software and is automatically loaded onto Star Diagnosis as part of the regular monthly Star Diagnosis DAS updates. Please refer to the STAR TekInfo Newsletter 1 (issued July 2002), found on the NetStar's STAR TekInfo website, for additional information on ECM flashware.

FLASHING WITH STAR DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

  2. Ensure latest version of DAS has been installed on Star Diagnosis.
  3. Enter vehicle information into screen menus as required.
  4. Navigate through the DAS screen menus in the following steps to perform control module flashing.
    NOTE:
