  Intank fuel pump, location The intank fuel pump is located in the fuel tank next to the swirl pot.

  Intank fuel pump, task The intank fuel pump ensures an adequate fuel level in the swirl pot at a high engine load or high engine speed and at a low fuel return.  
  Intank fuel pump, design The design of the intank fuel pump is comparable to that of the main fuel pump (M3.). The only difference to the main fuel pump is the maximum delivery volume of at about 220 l/h at a delivery pressure of 0.3 bar.  
  Intank fuel pump, function Actuation takes place via the intank fuel pump (K27/5, K40/8kX) relay of the ME control unit (N3/10).
IMPORTANT Model 230 up to 06/2002: Actuation of the intank fuel pump relay takes place via the intank fuel pump control unit (N118/1).
