In rest position, an electrical current flows over the indicating resistor integrated in the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) (parallel to the switch contact). The emergency call system control unit (N123/4) thus detects that the feed line and the ground line are functioning properly. When the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) is pressed, the control resistor is bridged by the switch contact.

The input from the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) is read in by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) over a discrete line. When the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) is pressed, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) detects a request for a manual emergency call, which it then sends out.
