Pre-Authorization for COMAND
SERVICE INFORMATION
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC will start electronic pre-authorization of Model 215/220 MY 2004 through 2006 and Model 230 MY 2005 through 2007 COMAND replacements for New and Remanufactured COMAND units on Monday, October 16, 2006. MBUSA has posted a Pre-Authorization Form for COMAND unit replacements that supplements information available through traditional MBUSA sources and can be found on: NetStar --> Service --> STAR TekInfo --> Forms and Test Sheets.
Under this program, Model 215/220 MY 2004 through 2006 and Model 230 MY 2005 through 2007 COMAND units will require authorization prior to replacement, in accordance with the program terms summarized below.
- The technician shall conduct an accurate assessment of the problem by using the Pre Authorization Form for COMAND unit replacements.
- ALL warrantable Model 215/220 MY 2004 through 2006 and Model 230 MY 2005 through 2007 COMAND units will require that the Shop Foreman or Service Manager review and submit the COMAND Pre Authorization Form to request authorization for a replacement of a COMAND unit.
- Upon completion of the COMAND Pre Authorization Form, click on the 'submit' button to send the form to Warranty. Upon receipt, Warranty will create and assign a WSG case number. After review, you will be notified via e-mail (to the address listed on the form) of MBUSA's decision and the WSG case number. The WSG case will also be updated with the decision.
- All replacement COMAND units will be authorized by Warranty via WSG case number.
- If the QEC inspection does not reflect the documented diagnosis from the WSG authorized case, the claim is subject to debit.
- Should an authorized COMAND unit be submitted without the specified documentation called for in the MY 2004 through 2007 COMAND Warranty Checklist, the claim handling fee will be debited as of repair date November 1, 2006.
