Steering column module, task - GF54.21-P-4104-02T

The steering column module (N80) has the following operations:

Scanning 

• Buttons of multifunction steering wheel:
  • Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
  • Right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
• Combination switch (S4)
• Cruise control pushbutton switch (S40/4)
• Steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1)

  (with code (443) steering wheel heater or code (275a) memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors))

• VCS switch (S93/2) (with code (813) voice control system (VCS))
• Steering angle sensor (N49)

Actuate 

• Search illumination of multifunction steering wheel
• Yellow LED, variable speed limiter (S40/4v1)
• Steering wheel heater function indicator (S59/1e1) (with code (443) steering wheel heater)

Transfer 

The signals of the following components are not read in by the steering column module (N80) but only looped through:

• Driver airbag squib 1 (R12/13) and
• Driver airbag squib 2 (R12/14)
• Steering wheel heater electronics (A74) (with code (443) steering wheel heater)

The steering column module (N80) is connected to the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) and Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C)

However, it cannot act as an interface (Gateway) between the two bus systems, i.e. no data is exchanged between CAN-B and CAN-C via the steering column module (N80).
