Front emergency belt tensioner, location The front emergency tensioning retractor with the driver emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/1) and the front passenger emergency tensioning retractor squib (R12/2) are each located at the bottom of the B-pillar behind the plastic trim.
Front emergency belt tensioner - task The emergency tensioning retractor takes up the slack in the seat belt in the event of a collision (frontal or rear end collision) and prevents the seat belt's film reel effect. The close-fitting seat belt means that vehicle occupants are exposed to the deceleration forces acting on the body at an earlier stage.
