Location

The WSS control unit is located at the seat frame of the front passenger seat.

Task

The component has the following tasks:

Left front WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/11)
Right front WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/12)
Left rear WSS sensor (Weight Sensing System) (B48/13)
Right rear WSS (Weight Sensing System) sensor (B48/14)

Evaluation of input factors

The WSS control unit determines the weight (person or child seat) on the front passenger seat. The weight is determined via the data from the WSS sensors.

The tractive force at the belt is transmitted via the belt tension sensor to the WSS control unit.

The WSS control unit calculates the corresponding weight class from the weight and belt tension and transmits this on the interior CAN (CAN B).

Voltage supply of sensors

The WSS control unit supplies the power to the WSS sensors.
