Ignition switch lock, function 

The EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) locks the transmitter key (A8/1) manual as of "terminal 15R ON". As soon as the speed of the vehicle exceeds the threshold value of 8 km/h, the EIS [EZS] control unit prevents the removal of the transmitter key, as the automatic engagement of the gear selector position "P" (on model 221 up to 31.8.06) or automatic engagement of the gear selector switch position "N" (on model 216 and on model 221 as of 1.9.06) cannot be performed by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80).

As long as the speed of the vehicle remains below the threshold value of 8 km/h, the transmitter key can be removed and the gear selector switch position "P" (on model 221 up to 31.8.06) or gear selector switch position "N" (on model 216 and on model 221 as of 1.9.06) is automatically engaged by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT.
