Key-P function - GF27.10-P-3028SXA

TRANSMISSION 722.6 in MODEL 216, 221 up to Model Year 8

Key-P is used to summarize the functions which serve to prevent the vehicle from inadvertently rolling away in addition the parking brake. These include locking of the gear selector switch position "P", locking of the mechanical part in the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) as well as the park pawl in the transmission. The function Key-P only permits switching out of gear selector switch position "P", if the transmitter key (A8/1) has been turned into position "circuit 15 ON" and the brake pedal is pressed.

Up to 31.8.06 on model 221 the gear selector switch position "P" is shifted automatically by the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) as soon as the transmitter key is removed from the EIS [EZS] control unit.

The vehicle is secured mechanically by blocking the park pawl gear. If it is not possible to implement the Key-P function, for example because of undervoltage in the on-board electrical system, then the emergency-P function is activated.

IMPORTANT Up to 31.8.06 on model 221 with code (889) Keyless Go the system also shifts into gear selector switch position "P" if the driver door is opened after "terminal 15 OFF" of the vehicle.

IMPORTANT As of 1.9.06 on model 221 and on model 216 the system always shifts into gear selector position "P", if the driver door is opened after "terminal 15 OFF".
