COMPLAINT

The navigation function is not available. The display shows the message "The system software was updated. The map software must now be updated. Please load the DVD with the map software". In the telematics control unit log, "-1" is displayed under current navigation data version in some cases.

All other functions (radio, telephone, etc.) are available.

CAUSE

Navigation may not be available due to internal contamination of the hard disk (contamination by foreign matter) or by another internal defect. The system is no longer able to access the required data on the hard disk.

REMEDY

Remove/install/replace COMAND controller unit (A40/3).

NOTE: When the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) is replaced, some functions may change due to the modified software. In this regard please refer to the document "COMAND: System errors, audio and navigation complaints" (LI82.85-P-052602).
