Long-range radar sensor, component description - GF30.30-P-3125GN
MODEL 166 as of model year 2016 with CODE 23P (Driving Assistance package Plus)
MODEL 292 with CODE 23P (Driving Assistance package Plus)
Shown on model 292
Location
The front long-range radar sensor is located in the center, in front of the radiator.
Tasks
The long-range radar sensor has the following tasks:
- Actuation, power supply and evaluation of target data from the integral long range radar
- Transmission of object data for longitudinal vehicle control to the radar sensors control unit (N62/1) (with CODE 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Steer Assist and Stop & Go Pilot))
- Transmission of object data for traffic monitoring to the radar sensors control unit (with CODE 237 (Active Blind Spot Assist))
- Transmission of object data to the radar sensors control unit for plausibility checking of the object data of the stereo multifunction camera (A40/13) (with CODE 23P (Driving assistance package))
- Transmission of object data for interventions by the brake system to prevent a collision to the radar sensors control unit (with CODE 271 (Autonomous brake intervention/pedestrian protection))
The control electronics integrated in the long-range radar sensor actuate the long-range radar and evaluate the target data. The target data from the long range radar is transferred to the radar sensors control unit (for code 23P (Driver Assistance Package Plus)) by the front long-range radar sensor via the suspension FlexRay (Flex E).
Input and output signals
The long-range radar sensor transmits and receives the following signals via the suspension FlexRay:
- Input signals
- Output signals
Received signals are evaluated by the integrated control electronics.
Input signals
- Radar request
- Diagnosis request
Output signals
- Target data from the radar
- Diagnostic data
Body
The front long-range radar sensor contains control electronics for actuating and evaluating the long range radar.
Properties of the long range radar:
- Detection range of the long-range radar sensor s = 0 to 200 m for a detection angle of ∠= 18°
- Detection range of the long-range radar sensor s = 0 to 60 m for a detection angle of ∠= 60°
- 77 GHz radar sensor operating on the pulse Doppler principle for independent measurement of distance and speed
The long-range radar sensor must be readjusted using the integrated "Service Adjustment Mode" after replacement (e.g. after an accident repair).
